How Synder helped Brenden Ernestine organize Amazon fees and trigger e-commerce growth

Amazon fees categorization Rule

Last year, we became acquainted with jewelry designer Brenden Ernestine, owner of an e-commerce jewelry business, and creator of astonishing masterpieces out of natural materials. Although he and his partner wanted to start this e-commerce business four years ago, obstacles always appeared.

When I first began this business, I thought that I was ready for that big step, but it turned out I was too optimistic (laughs).”

Brenden’s experience began with gifting hand-made rings to friends and grew to selling on global e-commerce platforms, such as eBay, Amazon, and Etsy. After many ups and downs, Synder, as he said, became his well-cut diamond.

Challenge

Tracking Amazon fees was time-consuming and stressful

The first sales channel that caught Brenden’s eye was Etsy because of their customization, but at some point new customers stopped finding his shop. He started to research other platforms to create a second store.

Brenden decided to open up shop on Amazon, but with two online stores he hit a crucial point when he realized how time consuming and stressful accounting could be, especially when he couldn’t see his cash flow details during a particular period.

I couldn’t sleep properly because of the amount of bookkeeping work that had to be done. My mom was sure that this e-commerce business was just a dead end and would only leave me without a cent. Guess I got my stubbornness from my father (laughs)”.

The main challenge for Brenden was tracking Amazon fees. There were multiple expenses for different types of fees, and he had to manually categorize everything in his accounting platform (QuickBooks in this case).

I’ve spent a lot of time and money but I couldn’t even understand what was going on. There was no categorization, and some expenses showed up as “Advertising,” and all the rest appeared as “Amazon Service Fee”. I wanted to see specific numbers to keep track of how much I needed to spend on this or that Amazon service”.

And that’s when Brenden found out about Synder!

Solution

Set it and forget it–Smart Rules make tracking fees a breeze

After spending months working in QuickBooks, Brenden was eager to find consolidated accounting software that helped to solve his problem.

Excel sheets are great, I tell you that much, but not at the time when you need to record more than 2000 transactions per month or want to have your own life aside from business. […] I found out about Synder software through the advertisement, and feel lucky I  gave it a try. The Demo was first-rate, and the Support Team answered every question I had. The interactions were also first class, no doubt”.

Synder’s Smart Rules became a go-to for Brenden and his jewelry business.

Our Smart Rules feature allows users to set triggers for data and actions. It includes a number of templates made beforehand with “if → then” conditions to help you build your own bookkeeping flows that fit your business

So how did this feature help Brenden with Amazon fees?

Amazing! The best result I’ve ever had during the last year. Of course, I have had to spend some time to figure out the workflow of Smart Rules and to edit them to my advantage, but that is still worth it! I needed to do this just once, and after that, everything was recorded automatically. The funny thing is that now I won’t even remember how to do all these categorizations manually (laughs). Both Synder software and the team do the job they need to. And do it brilliantly”.

Result

Less stress and thrilled by every sale

The point of Smart Rules is that one action triggers another. But in Brenden’s experience, it was Smart Rules that became an action that triggered his e-commerce business growth.

The sales have finally skyrocketed! I don’t have to always think about the percentages I’ve spent on FBA fees, referral fees, and whatever else. Everything is now categorized in my QuickBooks account via Synder, so I can keep track of my net income. The best thing is that I don’t have to do anything. Everything is automatically already done in the background. Thanks to Synder, the only job that is left to me is to get thrilled at every sale! I would definitely recommend Synder to every e-commerce seller who wants to improve their business. Once you’ve tried it, you won’t go back!
