A SAFE-T Reimbursement or Claim is Amazon’s way of compensating sellers when they successfully appeal an unfair refund or return decision. This process falls under the Seller Assurance for ecommerce Transactions (SAFE-T) program. If a seller believes they shouldn’t be financially responsible for a refund—such as when a product is returned damaged, a buyer never sends the item back, or a returnless refund was mistakenly issued—they can file a SAFE-T claim.
If the claim is approved, Amazon reimburses the seller for relevant costs, which can include the product’s value, return shipping fees, and any restocking charges. The seller needs to provide clear details, photos, and supporting documentation, like proof of delivery or return shipping labels, to strengthen their case. If the claim is denied, the seller can file one appeal within seven days, as long as they provide additional evidence.
