Error: Account code ‘x’ is not a valid code for this document

What It Means

Xero has a set of locked and system account codes, which you cannot archive or delete. You cannot enable payments to system accounts, either, unlike locked ones. There is a small padlock next to their codes in your Chart of Accounts. If you try syncing your transactions into such an account, you get this error.

Possible Reasons

You chose a system or locked account in Synder settings.

How To Fix It

  1. Select a Different Account in Synder Settings
  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right corner of the Synder page to go to Settings.
  2. Select a different account that the one you used to have in the dropdown menu of the respective tab (Sales, Fees, Application Fees, or Expenses – for PayPal users).
  3. Click Update.
  4. Go back to the Transactions page and re-sync the failed transactions.
