Stripe Per Payout Summaries in Synder are designed to simplify transaction reconciliation by linking transactions directly to Stripe payouts. However, when manual payouts are mixed with automatic payouts, the manual ones may not match automatically with your bank statement. This guide explains how to identify and reconcile these manual payouts in your books.
1. What are manual payouts in Stripe?
Manual payouts occur when you manually transfer funds from your Stripe balance to your bank account instead of relying on Stripe’s automatic payout schedule. Unlike automatic payouts, manual payouts:
- Are not linked to balance transactions in Stripe.
- Share the date of the automatic payout in summaries, making automatic matching to bank statements in accounting software less reliable.
2. How manual payouts appear in Synder
When manual payouts are included by Stripe into automatic payout, they will:
- Be included in the same journal entry (JE) as the related automatic payout.
- Reflect the same date as the automatic payout.
Impact on reconciliation
Since the manual payout will have the automatic payout’s date, it may not match directly with your bank statement. You will need to manually match it to the corresponding bank statement entry.
3. Steps to reconcile manual payouts
Step 1: Identify manual payouts in the summary
- Open the Per Payout Summary in Synder.
- Navigate to the Alerts & info tab.
- Look for a notification indicating that the summary includes manual payouts.
Step 2: Manually match transactions
- In your accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or Xero), find the bank statement entry for the manual payout.
- Manually match it with the manual payout entries created by Synder.
Tip: For multiple manual payouts entries, carefully match the amounts and dates to avoid discrepancies.
