This guide shows how to create Analytics API credentials in <strong>Toast Web<\/strong> and where they go in Synder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The steps mirror the Standard API guide, with three differences worth knowing up front: Analytics API access needs a higher Toast package, you can hold only <strong>one<\/strong> set of Analytics credentials per management group, and there are no scopes or locations to pick \u2014 one credential set covers every location in the group. Budget about five minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you start<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your management group must have an active subscription to <strong>Toast Restaurant Management Suite Pro or higher<\/strong>. Standard API access only needs Essentials \u2014 Analytics API access does not appear in the <strong>Create new credentials<\/strong> menu on a lower package.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your Toast user needs the <strong>8.4 Manage Integrations<\/strong> permission, the same one that governs Standard API credentials. Step 1 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/how-to-connect-toast-to-accounting-software\/\">Standard API guide<\/a> shows how to check and grant it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only <strong>one<\/strong> set of Analytics API credentials can exist per management group. If a set already exists, use it (or rotate its secret \u2014 see <em>Good to know<\/em>) rather than trying to create a second one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Synder needs two things from this process: the Analytics API <strong>Client ID<\/strong> and <strong>client secret<\/strong>. You create both in Steps 2\u20134.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-1-check-your-toast-package-and-permissions-942963a4-7c97-4c27-96f4-fbe5c0ef09ff\">Step 1 \u2014 Check your Toast package and permissions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Analytics API credentials are created on the same <strong>Manage credentials<\/strong> page as Standard API credentials, so the same access rules apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Package.<\/strong> Check that the management group is on <strong>Restaurant Management Suite Pro or higher<\/strong>. If <strong>Analytics API<\/strong> is missing from the <em>Create new credentials<\/em> dropdown in Step 3, the package is the usual reason \u2014 contact Toast to upgrade.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Permission.<\/strong> You need <strong>8.4 Manage Integrations<\/strong>. A Toast user or restaurant operator with full access can grant it under <strong>Employees &gt; Employee management &gt; Employees &gt; Jobs &amp; Permissions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-2-open-toast-api-access-in-toast-web-a0633093-5299-4d25-9eaa-d763d620ed75\">Step 2 \u2014 Open Toast API access in Toast Web<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the Toast API access page directly: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toasttab.com\/restaurants\/admin\/api-access\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">toasttab.com\/restaurants\/admin\/api-access<\/a> (log in to Toast Web if prompted).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or navigate there from the Toast Web menu: <strong>Integrations &gt; Toast API access &gt; Manage credentials<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Manage credentials<\/strong> page lists every credential set in your management group \u2014 Standard and Analytics alike. The <strong>New Credentials<\/strong> page opens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the page. It lists the <strong>reporting data<\/strong> the credentials will have read-only access to, links to Toast&#8217;s documentation, and shows the <strong>management group<\/strong> the credentials are for together with the <strong>number of locations<\/strong> it includes. There is nothing to select here \u2014 Analytics credentials always cover the whole group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a <strong>credential name<\/strong> you will recognize later \u2014 <strong>Synder Analytics<\/strong> is a good choice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Create credentials<\/strong>. Toast opens the <strong>Credentials<\/strong> page.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Unlike Standard API credentials, there are no scopes to tick and no locations to choose. Analytics API access is read-only by design.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-4-copy-your-client-id-and-client-secret-6f8253a7-605e-49e3-9f6d-3a83aa70eca2\">Step 4 \u2014 Copy your Client ID and client secret<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the <strong>Credentials<\/strong> page, copy the following and keep them somewhere secure, such as a password manager:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Client ID<\/strong> \u2014 use the copy icon next to it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Client secret<\/strong> \u2014 click to view it and copy it now. <strong>Toast shows the client secret only once.<\/strong> If you navigate away without saving it, you will have to rotate the secret to get a new one (see <em>Good to know<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The same page also shows an <strong>API access URL<\/strong>, an <strong>API access type<\/strong>, the management group and its location count, and links to Toast&#8217;s Analytics API documentation. Synder does not ask for any of these \u2014 you only need the Client ID and the client secret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prefer JSON?<\/strong> The Credentials page can also display the credential set in JSON format, which some teams find easier to store in a password manager. Either way, treat the client secret like a password and never share it over email or chat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-5-enter-the-credentials-in-synder-53242b62-f892-45e6-9665-413ddf2d368d\">Step 5 \u2014 Enter the credentials in Synder<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Log in to Synder. Click the <strong>person icon<\/strong> in the upper-right corner, open <strong>Organization settings<\/strong>, go to the <strong>Integrations<\/strong> section and open your <strong>Toast<\/strong> integration (or click <strong>Add integration<\/strong> and choose <strong>Toast<\/strong> if you have not connected Toast yet \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/how-to-connect-toast-to-accounting-software\/\">Standard API guide<\/a> walks through that first).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Toast Analytics API Client ID<\/strong> \u2014 the Client ID you copied in Step 4.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Toast Analytics API Client Secret<\/strong> \u2014 the client secret from Step 4. Use the reveal icon to check you pasted it correctly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save. Synder verifies the credentials with Toast and starts pulling reporting data for the connected location(s).<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Because one Analytics credential set covers the whole management group, you enter the <strong>same<\/strong> Client ID and client secret for every Toast location you have connected in Synder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Good to know<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>One set per management group.<\/strong> Toast allows only one Analytics API credential set per management group. If your team already created one for another tool, reuse it \u2014 or rotate the secret so you have a copy \u2014 instead of deleting it, which would break that tool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The client secret is shown once.<\/strong> Lost it? On the Credentials page, select <strong>Rotate secret<\/strong>, type <strong>ROTATE SECRET<\/strong> to confirm, click <strong>Continue<\/strong>, then <strong>View secret<\/strong>. Copy the new secret, tick <em>I have copied and saved the client secret<\/em> and click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rotating the secret breaks any integration still using the old one.<\/strong> Update it in Synder straight away. Tokens Toast has already issued stay valid until they expire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Deleting credentials is permanent.<\/strong> Toast asks you to type <strong>DELETE SECRET<\/strong> to confirm, and cannot restore a deleted set \u2014 you would have to create a new one and update Synder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Analytics API is missing from the Create new credentials menu?<\/strong> The management group is not on Restaurant Management Suite Pro or higher, or your user lacks 8.4 Manage Integrations. See Step 1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Analytics API access is read-only.<\/strong> Synder can read your Toast reporting data; it cannot change anything in Toast.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3
