However, three transaction types must be deleted manually in Xero\u00a0before the rollback can complete successfully:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overpayments<\/li>\n<li>Bank Transfers<\/li>\n<li>Credit Notes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If any of these exist in Xero from a previous sync, Synder will not be able to remove them. The rollback will return an error indicating the transactions could not be located.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Manually Delete Leftover Transactions in Xero<\/h3>\n<p>Complete these steps for each transaction type that caused the rollback error.<\/p>\n<p>Overpayments:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>In Synder, go to Summaries \u2192 Summaries list<\/li>\n<li>Open the relevant Summary \u2192 View sync log.<\/li>\n<li>Locate the overpayment transaction linked to the failed rollback and click on the link.<br \/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/rollback-guide-img-0.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<li>In Xero, click on Options \u2192 Remove &amp; Redo.<br \/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/rollback-guide-img-1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Bank Transfers:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>In Synder, go to Summaries \u2192 Summaries list<\/li>\n<li>Open the relevant Summary \u2192 View sync log.<\/li>\n<li>Locate the bank transfer transaction linked to the failed rollback and click on the link.<br \/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/rollback-guide-img-2.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<li>In Xero, click on Options \u2192 Remove &amp; Redo.<br \/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/rollback-guide-img-3.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Credit Notes:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>In Synder, go to Summaries \u2192 Summaries list<\/li>\n<li>Locate the credit note and click on the See in books\u00a0link<br \/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/rollback-guide-img-4.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on the\u00a0X icon\u00a0next to the applied credit.<\/li>\n<li>Click on Credit Note Options\u00a0\u2192 Void<br \/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/rollback-guide-img-5.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once all leftover records are deleted, return to Synder and run the rollback again.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/rollback-guide-img-6.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<h3>How to Confirm It Worked<\/h3>\n<p>The rollback is complete when:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No error message appears in Synder after running the rollback<\/li>\n<li>The synced entry in the History\u00a0tab shows a Rolled Back\u00a0status<\/li>\n<li>The corresponding transactions are no longer visible in Xero<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Limitations &amp; Important Notes<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Synder cannot delete Overpayments, Bank Transfers, or Credit Notes automatically.\u00a0This is a Xero API restriction &#8211; these record types require manual deletion directly in Xero.<\/li>\n<li>A partially completed rollback may leave your books in an inconsistent state.\u00a0Always complete the manual deletion steps and re-run the rollback before attempting a new sync.<\/li>\n<li>Deleting a Credit Note in Xero is irreversible.\u00a0Make sure the credit note was created by Synder and is not needed before deleting it.<\/li>\n<li>Synder cannot roll back closed accounting periods<\/li>\n<li>Any entities that are matched to another entity cannot be rolled back. For example, if a payment is matched to an invoice, it cannot be deleted unless it is unmatched.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>FAQ<\/h3>\n<p>Why did my rollback fail with a &#8220;transaction could not be located&#8221; error?\u00a0This happens when Xero contains Overpayments, Bank Transfers, or Credit Notes that Synder cannot delete through the API. You need to delete these manually in Xero and then re-run the rollback.<\/p>\n<p>Can I resync after completing the rollback?\u00a0Yes. Once the rollback completes without errors, you can adjust your settings if needed and resync.<\/p>\n<p>Do I need to delete all three transaction types, or only specific ones?\u00a0Only delete the types mentioned in the error message. If the error only references Credit Notes, you only need to delete those.<\/p>\n<p>Will manually deleting these records in Xero affect my other data?\u00a0Only the specific records tied to the failed sync should be deleted.
