To get Xero connected to Synder in the first place, see <a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/how-to-connect-and-set-up-xero-in-summary-sync-mode-with-synder\/\">How to Connect and Set Up Xero with Synder<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to use this guide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Use this guide when your payment integration is in Manual reconciliation mode (for example Square, WooCommerce, or another platform without a built-in Synder reconciliation connector) and your accounting platform is <strong>Xero<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll export an <em>Account Transactions<\/em> report from Xero, clean it up, and upload it into Synder alongside your payment-platform file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1 \u2014 Export the Account Transactions report from Xero<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open <strong>Xero<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Reporting \u2192 Account Transactions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the needed <strong>account<\/strong> \u2014 this must be the same account where Synder posts payments, fees, and refunds (the <em>Clearing account<\/em> for that integration).<\/li>\n<li>Set the <strong>date range<\/strong> you want to reconcile.<\/li>\n<li>Choose these <strong>columns<\/strong>: <em>Date, Source, Contact, Description, Reference, Gross, Net, Related account<\/em> (Xero will lay them out in this order in the export).<\/li>\n<li>Set <strong>Grouping<\/strong> to <em>None<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Update<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Export the report as <strong>XLSX<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2 \u2014 Clean up the XLSX file<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Xero adds a few header rows to the top of the export (report title, account name, date range). Secondary ID \u2192 Reference (use the same column if Synder asks for both IDs). Amount \u2192 Gross (or Net, depending on what you&#8217;re matching). Date \u2192 Date. For a full explanation of each bucket and how to act on discrepancies, see the <em>Understanding your results<\/em> section of <a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/transaction-reconciliation-how-to-compare-your-payment-platform-data-with-your-accounting-records\/\">the main Transaction Reconciliation guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips and tricks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Use Gross vs Net consistently.<\/strong> If your payment platform file reports gross amounts (before fees), map Synder&#8217;s <em>Amount<\/em> field to <strong>Gross<\/strong>; if it&#8217;s net of fees, map to <strong>Net<\/strong>. Mixing the two will produce phantom discrepancies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pick the right clearing account.<\/strong> If your Synder integration posts fees and refunds into a separate account from payments, run the Xero report against the payments-and-refunds account \u2014 that&#8217;s where matches will line up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stay inside your sync window.<\/strong> Only reconcile dates that Synder has actually synced to Xero.
