In Summary Sync mode, Synder records those transactions in your accounting platform as summarized journal entries. As a result, your clearing account should net to zero once every payout is matched.<br><br>This guide explains how to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify the ending balance of your Square account in the Summary sync mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reconcile your clearing account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compare Square and accounting data to identify discrepancies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Use this guide if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You use Square with Synder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You use Synder in Summary Sync mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your clearing account does not reconcile or zero out automatically<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You want to verify that Square and accounting records match<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After you complete the steps, your <strong>Square clearing account will reconcile<\/strong>, with sales, payouts, and fees reflected accurately in your books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"main-reconciliation-flow-77b877c9-3d81-41fc-bee6-fd9e824c09b2\"><strong>Main Reconciliation Flow<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To reconcile your Square clearing account, first figure out the ending balance in your Square account. As a result, you get a clear reference point for matching your QuickBooks Online clearing account.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, you find the Square balance by downloading the <strong>Sales Summary<\/strong> and <strong>Transfers<\/strong> reports:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-1-access-square-sales-summary-report-69edca45-70dd-496f-ae2b-ab81b400f909\"><strong>Step 1: Access Square Sales Summary Report<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Square Dashboard<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>Reports<\/strong> tab.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open <strong>Sales Summary<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the required time period<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check <strong>Net Total<\/strong> row (This includes all your sales, including cash and check)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1006\" height=\"850\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/image-57.png\" alt=\"Square Sales Summary report used for clearing account reconciliation in Synder\" class=\"wp-image-27202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/image-57.png 1006w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/image-57-300x253.png 300w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/image-57-768x649.png 768w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/image-57-60x51.png 60w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/image-57-150x127.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1006px) 100vw, 1006px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For the chosen period, the <strong>Net Total row in the Sales Summary<\/strong> shows the net sales total after Square deducts any applicable fees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>However, you also need to subtract the cash and check totals from the same report to get the net total of your online sales.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-2-adjust-for-payouts-826a8fd9-9944-4be3-8de7-c78b3f781145\"><strong>Step 2: Adjust for Payouts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Square does not offer a downloadable payout report. Therefore, to match the ending balance, subtract the total funds paid out from the net sales. To access the payout\/transfers report, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Square Dashboard<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Balance<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Activity<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select tab <strong>Transfers<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the <strong>same date range<\/strong> as for Sales Summary report<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sum up the payouts to get the total.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, subtract the total transfers from the net sales total. Therefore, follow the steps below to make sure Synder successfully synced your Square data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to Synder and filter transactions by status. First, make sure every transaction within your reconciliation period is in the <strong>Synced<\/strong> or <strong>Skipped<\/strong> status on the Platform transactions page.<br>However, all other statuses indicate that the transaction is not in your books or needs additional checking. As a result, while such transactions remain, your books won\u2019t reconcile.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, make sure all Square locations are connected.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Also, make sure you compare the right numbers \u2014 for example, sales might not equal cash. However, the report doesn\u2019t contain the payouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You also need a report of the Square clearing account. In Synder Summary Sync mode, Synder records transactions in your accounting platform as summarized journal entries. As a result, the Square clearing account report in QuickBooks Online will not include the granular data for each balance transaction. Therefore, use the Synder <strong>Register tab<\/strong> to prepare the clearing account report instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access the <strong>Register<\/strong> page from the left-side menu in Synder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the needed Square integration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Clearing<\/strong> accounting category&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the same date range<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download report<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Please note that Square integration will have 3 separate accounts for your online, cash, and check sales. Specifically, you only need the <strong>Transaction ID<\/strong> and <strong>Home Currency Amount<\/strong> columns.
