Synder syncs <strong>sales and refunds<\/strong> from Afterpay, but <strong>payouts and processing fees are not synced automatically<\/strong> and must be recorded manually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide explains how to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Manually account for <strong>Afterpay payouts<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manually record <strong>Afterpay processing fees<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reconcile your <strong>Afterpay clearing account<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Troubleshoot discrepancies if they arise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>QuickBooks Online is used as an example, but the same reconciliation approach applies to other supported accounting integrations and to other <strong>payment platforms that do not support payout and fee syncing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Use this guide if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You use Afterpay with Synder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your clearing account does not reconcile or zero out automatically<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You need to account for payouts and fees manually<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You want to verify that Afterpay and accounting records match<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing this guide, your <strong>Afterpay clearing account will reconcile correctly<\/strong>, with all sales, payouts, and fees accurately reflected in your books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Main Reconciliation Flow<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To reconcile your Afterpay clearing account, complete the steps below <strong>in the order given<\/strong>.<br>For most cases, reconciliation is complete after recording payouts and fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1:&nbsp; Add Payouts Manually:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular manual entries are crucial for proper reconciliation of integrations without fee and payout support. Without it, the clearing account balance won\u2019t be cleared. We suggest reviewing this <a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/how-to-reconcile-integrations-without-payout-support-in-synder\/\">guide about integrations without payout support.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2:&nbsp; Add expenses manually<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br><\/strong>Tax and expense information can be found in the Afterpay reports. Congratulations!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If Your Clearing Account Does Not Reconcile<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If the balances between your Afterpay and Quickbooks report don&#8217;t match, it&#8217;s often caused by unsynchronized transactions. Follow the steps below to make sure that Synder has successfully synced your Afterpay data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to Synder and filter transactions by status. Make sure that all the transactions within your reconciliation period are in statuses: <strong>Synced<\/strong> or <strong>Skipped <\/strong>on the Platform transactions page. All the other statuses indicate that the transaction is not in your books or needs additional checking. As long as such transactions are present, your books won\u2019t reconcile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure you are comparing the right numbers (sales might not equal cash, for example). It\u2019s important to use the right numbers for reconciliation and comparison.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your platform was disconnected within the reconciliation period, make sure you run a <strong>Historical Import<\/strong> on the Platform transactions page to retrieve any missing transactions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve checked all the basics but the discrepancy still persists, follow the steps below to download the report from Afterpay and compare it with the report from QuickBooks. This will help identify the transactions causing differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1: Download required reports<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><br>You should already have a report from Afterpay if you\u2019ve followed the main reconciliation flow. If not, please download it by following the steps above.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also need a report of the AfterPay clearing account from your accounting software.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/how-to-download-the-clearing-account-report-from-quickbooks-online\/\"><em>Follow this link<\/em><\/a><em> to find the exact steps on how to generate a clearing account report in QuickBooks Online<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Note<\/em><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> If your QuickBooks clearing account has tens of thousands of transactions, it might not download the full dataset. After downloading one of the reports above, check for data completeness.
