However, if some of the transactions from a previously reconciled period were deleted from Synder, the <strong>starting balance of the next reconciliation may no longer match the expected total<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When this happens, Synder will display a banner notifying you about the discrepancy, and the affected reconciliations will be marked as <strong>\u201cAttention required.\u201d<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before continuing with new reconciliations, it\u2019s important to review and resolve this difference to ensure accuracy across reconciled <strong>January 2025<\/strong> with the following balances:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Starting balance (Jan 1):<\/strong> $0<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ending balance (Jan 31):<\/strong> $500<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Within January, you had several transactions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Transaction<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Type<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Amount<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Payment #1<\/td><td>Payment<\/td><td>$12.00<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Expense #1<\/td><td>Expense<\/td><td>$0.12<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Payout #2<\/td><td>Transfer<\/td><td>$11.88<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Payment #3<\/td><td>Payment<\/td><td>$520.00<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Expense #3<\/td><td>Expense<\/td><td>$20.00<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At that time, everything balanced correctly, and the month was successfully reconciled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, <strong>Payment #1<\/strong> and <strong>Expense #1<\/strong> were deleted from the Summary (for example, after a re-sync or manual deletion).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because those two transactions have been removed from the dataset, the reconciliation for January no longer adds up, and you\u2019ll now see a <strong>starting balance difference of $11.88<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to fix the starting balance difference<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Reconciliation \u2192 Reconciliation history.<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look for any reconciliation marked as <strong>\u201cAttention required.\u201d<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong>These are the reconciliations causing the discrepancy.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open each reconciliation and <strong>reselect the correct transactions<\/strong> to balance it again.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the balances align, <strong>save<\/strong> the reconciliation.<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pro <\/strong><strong>t<\/strong><strong>ips<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Review original details:<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong>Click <strong>\u201cView <strong>\u201cNot selected\u201d<\/strong> filter to view all excluded transactions quickly. This can help you identify which ones need to be added to restore the balance.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting balance discrepancies occur when reconciled transactions are deleted or altered after reconciliation.
