It is available only on QuickBooks Advanced plan, and only for Service items. If you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>have revenue recognition enabled in QuickBooks Advanced;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>update to a Service item which is configured for revenue recognition in QuickBooks;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and don&#8217;t specify a service date for it in your rule &#8211;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>you will encounter this error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to fix this error<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To fix this error, you will need to adjust your Smart Rule a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify which items are giving that error (in other words, which items are Services in QuickBooks Online and set up for revenue recognition).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the Smart Rule.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the Action blocks in which you have those items.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set a Service date:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"672\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240425_150940-1024x672.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240425_150940-1024x672.png 1024w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240425_150940-300x197.png 300w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240425_150940-768x504.png 768w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240425_150940-60x39.png 60w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240425_150940-150x98.png 150w, https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240425_150940.png 1078w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It can be the Due date or Transaction date. The Transaction date option is generally safer and also works perfectly with the QuickBooks Online Revenue recognition.<br>The option of a Custom date is also available for selection, but as the Service date won&#8217;t change in this scenario, Revenue recognition may not work as intended in QuickBooks. In addition, if you select this option, you may encounter issues when you attempt to post your Service item with a date that is prior to the start of revenue recognition for that item. So the rule of thumb would be to just go with <strong>Transaction date<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Click Submit.<br>6. Save and Close the rule.<br>7. Rollback and re-sync the affected transactions.
