This guide explains how to enable grouping by product category and map each category to the appropriate income account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use this guide if<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You want sales grouped and posted by <strong>product category<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You need <strong>more granular reporting<\/strong> for analysis or audits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You want to <strong>update summaries<\/strong> to include product categorization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re on the <strong>Essential plan or higher<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t use this guide if<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You need <strong>item\/SKU-level grouping<\/strong>. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/how-to-group-daily-summaries-by-products\/\">this guide<\/a> to group the summaries by individual products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After configuration, summaries are grouped by category, and each summary line impacts the income account selected for that category in the Mappings list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-map-product-categories-for-integrations-bd02cfe0-586a-44da-b4ad-2cec791f3704\"><strong>How to map product categories for integrations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For most integrations, you\u2019ll need to <strong>add categories to the products<\/strong> and then <strong>enable grouping by product category<\/strong>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: For Shopify, WooCommerce, and Square, categories can be imported automatically. See the dedicated section below.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-1nbsp-ec342af2-186e-4e47-9daa-f690adc41223\"><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Add product WooCommerce, and Square integrations, Synder automatically imports product categories and displays them in the Products and Services tab if categories are set up in the source platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After enabling <strong>Group by product category<\/strong>, sales are automatically grouped by imported categories inside the Summaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example notes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When importing a CSV file:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If a product or category does not exist in Synder, it creates it during import.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a product name or SKU already exists in Synder, Synder updates the category based on the uploaded file<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Synder can group sales by either product\/SKU or product category, but you cannot enable both options simultaneously on the Mapping tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For each product catalog:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&nbsp;Products with assigned categories are grouped into mapping rows by category.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Products without categories are grouped under a <strong>No category<\/strong> row.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If a category is missing when a summary is synced, the Description field in QuickBooks Online displays <strong>Undefined<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If all the products are already imported into Synder:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Products and Services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Export CSV<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add categories to the exported file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Import the updated file using the
