By doing so, you can break down your sales data by channel, region, product group, or any other dimension you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Use this guide if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You use <strong>Xero<\/strong> as your accounting system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You sync data in <strong>Summary mode<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You want to track performance by specific categories (for example, sales channel, region, country, product group, payment method, or warehouse).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing the setup, Synder will include a tracking category on each summary line in Xero. As a result, you will be able to run <strong>Profit &amp; Loss reports broken down by category<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"set-up-tracking-categories-89b0caac-bff3-4af8-a2eb-9122ff091fe3\"><strong>Set Up Tracking Categories<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Using Xero tracking categories in <strong>Synder summary sync<\/strong> helps you break down summarized sales data more efficiently. Each group can contain multiple options. However, in Summary sync mode, you can only assign <strong>one category per line<\/strong>.<br><br><strong><em>Example:<\/em><\/strong><em> If your categories include Region (US, CA) and Channel (Shopify, Amazon), you can only choose one of them per summary line.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to track multiple dimensions at once, consider one of these approaches:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create manual mapping groups based on the conditions you need, then assign categories accordingly. For example, create groups that divide sales per region and assign tracking categories per sales channel. <a href=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/summary-sync-understanding-the-mapping-groups\/\">Check out this guide to learn how to create mapping groups<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternatively, combine dimensions into <strong>one category group manually<\/strong>. For example: <em>Shopify-US<\/em>, <em>Amazon-UK<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Synder automatically updates summaries in <strong>Ready to sync<\/strong> status with the mapped tracking categories. To update previously synced summaries, you need to <strong>resync<\/strong> them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"faq-a9b56aca-a6e5-4f83-9a96-4836d06f3b1e\"><strong>FAQ<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Can I assign multiple tracking categories to one summary line?<\/strong><br><em>No. Synder supports <\/em><strong><em>one tracking category per line<\/em><\/strong><em> in Summary sync mode.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Do tracking categories affect reconciliation?<\/strong><br><em>No. Tracking categories serve <\/em><strong><em>reporting and analysis purposes only<\/em><\/strong><em>. They do not affect bank reconciliation or your accounting structure.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Can I assign tracking categories to mapping lines in bulk?<\/strong><br><em>Yes.
