{"id":19469,"date":"2023-04-14T13:28:27","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T13:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/?p=19469"},"modified":"2026-03-30T15:44:50","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T15:44:50","slug":"how-to-switch-from-per-transaction-sync-to-summary-sync-mode-or-vice-versa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/how-to-switch-from-per-transaction-sync-to-summary-sync-mode-or-vice-versa\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Change the Sync Mode (Per Transaction Sync \u2194 Summary Sync)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This guide is for users who already use Synder and want to change how Synder posts <strong>future transactions<\/strong> to your accounting platform when your current sync mode no longer fits your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Synder has two sync modes:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Per Transaction Sync<\/strong>: Synder posts each sale\/refund\/fee as a separate record in your accounting platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Summary Sync<\/strong>: Synder groups transactions for a selected period (for example, by day or by payout) and posts them as one aggregated record per period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Change the sync mode when:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your current sync mode does not fit your accounting needs and you want to change how future data is posted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do not change the sync mode if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You expect past data to be updated, rebuilt, or converted<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are trying to fix historical posting issues or reconciliation problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Note: <\/em><\/strong>Moving forward, make sure to select a specific date from where you want to start syncing data with the new sync mode and create a new organization. To switch sync modes, you need to create a new organization and select the mode during onboarding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changing the sync mode affects future data only. Previously synced data is not modified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The exact posting type in your accounting platform depends on the selected sync mode and your platform.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To prevent overlapping entries in your books, syncing should start from the cutoff date of the previous sync mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If both sync modes have posted overlapping transactions, you will have to make some manual adjustments in the books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Decide which version of the data you want to keep (individual transactions or summarized posting).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove the other version from your accounting platform manually, or roll it back from the Synder side.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continue syncing only non-overlapping data in the new organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>FAQ<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do I have to create a new organization to change the sync mode?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes.
