{"id":18056,"date":"2022-05-21T04:04:44","date_gmt":"2022-05-21T04:04:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/?p=18056"},"modified":"2026-03-30T19:20:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T19:20:58","slug":"what-should-i-do-if-a-common-product-is-off-and-items-are-synced-with-a-stripe-product","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/what-should-i-do-if-a-common-product-is-off-and-items-are-synced-with-a-stripe-product\/","title":{"rendered":"What Should I Do if a Common Product Is off and Items Are Synced With a Stripe Product?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Cases it may cover:<\/strong> a Product name is specified in a field other than the <em>Product <\/em>field in your sales platform.<br>Here is an example of a transaction synced with the Stripe product instead of the original one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synder.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/06\/Common-product-1-1024x261.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22432\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to fix it:<\/strong> Create a smart rule to map a product from the needed field to the existing product in your accounting company, rollback and re-sync the transaction(s) needed.<br><strong>Note:<\/strong> Smart rules work only for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important note:<\/strong> If you have the actual product name recorded in the <em>Description<\/em> field in Stripe and you want to see this exact product with the same name in the <em>Product <\/em>field in QuickBooks Online, enable the <em>Get product name from the description of transaction or order<\/em> setting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to the <em>Settings <\/em>tab on the left-side menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose Stripe from the Integrations dropdown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate to the <em>Products\/Services<\/em> tab and enable <em>Get product name from the description of transaction or order<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Update<\/strong> to save the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if that&#8217;s not the case, i.e., you want to update the actual product name based on another field, or if the product name is displayed differently in the Description field than how you want it to appear in your accounting software, follow the steps described in this guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 5px\"><strong>Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n\t<li style=\"margin-bottom: 5px\"><p style=\"margin-bottom: 5px\"><a href=\"#1\">Create a smart rule<\/a><\/p><\/li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-bottom: 5px\"><p style=\"margin-bottom: 5px\"><a href=\"#2\">Rollback and re-sync one transaction to check the result in your books<\/a><\/p><\/li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-bottom: 5px\"><p style=\"margin-bottom: 5px\"><a href=\"#3\">Rollback and re-sync other transactions applied with the Stripe product<\/a><\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"1\"><strong>Create a smart rule<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Go to your Synder company \u2192 click on the <em>Smart rules<\/em> tab on the left-side menu \u2192 hit <em>Create rule<\/em>;<br>2. Select a trigger, i.e. a transaction type you want to update products for (<em>Sales Receipt<\/em> as an example) \u2192 select <em>Created<\/em> \u2192 click on <em>Condition<\/em> \u2192 select the nearest block;<br>3. Choose the field, a product name is specified at (<em>Line:Description<\/em>, <em>memo<\/em>, etc.) \u2192 click <em>Contains <\/em>\u2192 specify a product name\/part of the product name you have in the field \u2192 click <em>Yes <\/em>and click the nearest block;<br>4. Select <em>Action<\/em>;<br>5. Under the <em>Create\/Edit<\/em> section, select QuickBooks action \u2192 select the entity type to update (Sales Receipt, Invoice, etc.) \u2192 Update line \u2192 hit Set QuickBooks entity data;<br>6. In the pop-up window, select the Product you want to see in this transaction (it will give you a list of products from your accounting company) \u2192 click on <em>Submit<\/em>.<br>7.
