If a product name is specified in a field other than the Product<\/em> field in your sales platform, Synder may sync the transaction using the Stripe product name instead of the original one. This guide walks you through two ways to fix it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Option 1: Enable a Setting (Quick Fix)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If the actual product name is recorded in the Description<\/em> field in Stripe, you can enable a setting to pull it automatically \u2014 no Smart Rule needed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to Settings<\/em> in the left-hand menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Choose Stripe<\/strong> from the integrations dropdown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Navigate to the Products and Services<\/em> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Enable Get product name from transaction or order description<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Click Update<\/strong> to save.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    If the product name is displayed differently in the Description field, or you need to map it to a specific existing product in your accounting software, use a Smart Rule instead (see Option 2 below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Option 2 overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. Create a smart rule<\/a><\/p><\/li>\n\t

    2. Rollback and re-sync one transaction to check the result in your books<\/a><\/p><\/li>\n\t

    3. Rollback and re-sync other transactions applied with the Stripe product<\/a><\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Option 2: Create a Smart Rule<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Smart Rules work for QuickBooks Online<\/strong>, QuickBooks Desktop<\/strong>, and Xero<\/strong> in Per-Transaction mode. Xero users:<\/strong> click Fetch data<\/strong> in the Smart Rules sidebar before your products appear in the dropdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Go to your Synder company \u2192 click Smart rules<\/em> in the left-hand menu \u2192 hit Create rule<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Select a trigger \u2014 the transaction type you want to update products for (Sales Receipt<\/em> as an example) \u2192 select Created<\/em> \u2192 click Condition<\/em> \u2192 select the nearest block.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Choose the field where the product name is specified (Line:Description<\/em>, memo<\/em>, etc.) \u2192 click Contains<\/em> \u2192 enter the product name or part of it \u2192 click Yes<\/em> \u2192 select the nearest block.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Select Action<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Under the Create\/Edit<\/em> section, select the QuickBooks action (or the appropriate action for your accounting platform) \u2192 select the entity type to update (Sales Receipt<\/em>, Invoice<\/em>, etc.) \u2192 Update line<\/em> \u2192 hit Set QuickBooks entity data<\/strong> (or Set Xero entity data<\/strong> for Xero users).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. In the pop-up window, select the product you want to see in this transaction \u2192 click Submit<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      7. Click Save and Close Rule<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Rollback and re-sync one transaction to check the result in your books<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Once the rule is created, roll back and re-sync one transaction to check the result:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Go to Platform Transactions<\/em> on the left-side menu \u2192 click on the three dots next to the transaction that was synced with a Stripe product \u2192 hit Rollback<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        2. Once the transaction has a deleted status, sync it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        And here you go:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Rollback and re-sync other transactions applied with the Stripe product<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Then re-sync other transactions that were applied with the Stripe product:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Go to Platform transactions<\/em> on the left-side menu \u2192 select transactions synced with the Stripe product \u2192 click on the blue Actions<\/em> button \u2192 select Rollback<\/em> and click on Rollback sync<\/em> to delete transactions from your accounting software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        2. Once transactions have deleted statuses, click on the blue Action<\/em> button \u2192 select Sync<\/em> and hit Sync<\/em> to re-sync transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        And there you go, the product has successfully been applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
